Hey guys,
i've got a vlaminigi tang that has popeye on his right eye. We just upgraded to that 240 as y'all know and the salinity is lower (was 1.026 and is now 1.023) and I don't know if that has anything to do with it. They have been in the tank for 3-4 days now so....I don't have a clue. Is there something I can do to help him or do I just need to let it run its course? It's not in both eyes so I don't think it's an infection and none of the other fish have it so please help me help him!! Thanks y'all!!

The higher the salinity the easier for parasites to live and thrive. My salinity shot up 9 points due to a faulty hydrometer (swingarm) and caused the infection even though my WQ was at or near perfect.

But do you think the infection came because he was switched to a lower salinity and is there anything I can do to make it go away?? I can let it run it's course but is it going to kill him??? Thanks.

I've read when only one eye is involved, usually from injury not infection.Recommendations are remove to QT to lower stress from other fish or just watch for signs of infection (cloudy, red, damage).Good luck!!

Oh, my bicolor had it during my fun run with my swingarm. It's fine, but blind in one eye. It outcompetes many of the fish for food. :)

Well, my vlaminigi popped his eye hitting it against the ground and now it looks a little better but still a little bubble. I talked to RCA and they told me to use kanaplex or kanamycin in his food since he eats outta my hand and it should get rid of it. Thanks guys for all your help and i'll keep you updated and let y'all know if this stuff works!!
