Anyone knows who sells solid black backgrounds? Everything I find has designs. Preferably local(SA Area).
Also, do you just tape this stuff on or is there a better way? Friend of mine said something about using mineral oil....?

Limo tint won't work since there will be a window right behind the aquarium. Anyone ever used vinyl like they use for vinyl graphics on windows, cars, etc? Goes on just like window tint I think, but its completely solid & not as glossy.

i used to use black giftwrapping paper! it looked nice too, couldn't even tell, i lucked out because the dimensions of the wrapping paper fit my width perfectly, i just needed to cut the height! but if you have a large tank you might luck out with the height and neet to cut the width. i don't use it anymore though because now i have a mirror background.

Just have to shop around. Usually the film has black on one side and blue on the other. Petsmart and I think Alamo Aquatics has it, not sure who else. When I used it on small tanks I usually just taped it on. If your tank isn't set up yet, painting works really good too. As Lonestar mentioned, try the Krylon spray paints.

Do you have any frags or anything colorful to trade.... I have a large partial roll, it cost me like $40 for the roll. You can cut to the length, but the Height is I think 24" tall. I can get you a peice of the size you need for a trade or small fee. Its blue on one side, and Black on the other. You can squeegie it on with water or tape it on all the way around like I did, which I think is better because the water cant get behind it peeling it off... Let me know...

Since my tank isn't setup yet I think I'm gonna go the spray paint route. Does it matter if I paint the inside or outside? I was planning on painting the outside.
Also, in case I get any overspray, does the Krylon scrape off easily with a razor blade?

Aquadome sells the best kind you use soap and it attaches I use it on all my tanks it in expensive and works good. I think its way better than anything else. I would buy it and ship it to you at your expense.

I would not paint the inside. My opinion>

Just spray the outside. A razor blade will work great on cleaning overspray on the glass. Just mask off the trim and side panes really good so you get good clean lines and no overspray. I used a metallic blue spray paint....looked pretty good.

I've always used black, but I think for the next time I will try a blue color or maybe a couple different colors to break up the solid background.

A layer of black latex paint works really well. It would take a little longer to dry than spray paint, but comes out looking very nice.

I second chris. I've tried it all and the latex black paint from home deopt (Rustolium I think) is the best.

I ended up spraying it. Don't recall the brand I used, but I did flat black(I hate glossy).
