i have yet some more questions about sand.

do yall think i should get livesand.
or buy regular sand and let it colonize in my tank.
because i have about 70 pounds of live rock with corraline algea.
but, when you buy livesand doesnt it have all those *critters* living in it that you want?and if you buy regular sand nothing is alive in it so you dont get the benifits?
so can yall tell me what i should do:confused:what yall think would be best.\
my tank has been set up for about 8 months. so i dont want it to cycle in my tank cuz i have 2 fish and a reef cleaner package

thanks for yalls help on my previos questions, yal have helped alot:bighug:

Remind us of your situation... are you setting up a new tank that is going to have to cycle anyway? If so, then you have the freedom of using regular sand and letting the critters in the live rock seed the sand and making it eventually live.

Or, some good advice we got at this stage of the setup was to buy half and half, that way you get a head start on the seeding of the sand. Sort of insurance for the process.

no, my tank isnt new, its about 8 months old with 2 fish and reefcleaner package. so you think i could buy regular sand and just let my rock seed it?

Oh, if you already have livestock in your tank, then you should probably buy live sand. Much less risk involved. Regular sand would eventually seed and become live from the live rock, but might have a cycle of ammonia, etc, in the meantime that could kill what you've got.

Regular sand is fine. Rinse it very well first.

I am with Bill on this one. Save the money for the corals you will want, you will need it!
