Further proof that we need to spend more money exploring the oceans instead of space.

LOL, I basically posted that same comment on reefcentral. There are 100's probably 1000's of animals we have yet to discover. The ocean covers the majority of the plantet much of which we cant reach its depths. Yet that is......

I agree with you guys, that fish is so amazing and it seems like every few months new fish are being found the more we spend time in the big blue. We should ask Ace to help get some gov. funding for that!

Pretty cryptic, I think it's camoed up like a mushroom. Forward facing eyes is a novelty in the fish world!
IMO it's not about discovering species (although that's cool in it's own right) it's about protecting them which means their habitats must be protected and restored. I also must say what would be more incredible than finding life or evidence of past life on another space object, whether it be a planet, asteroid, or other. We need to more on all accounts.

Octopi can live at ANY depth. That enhances their cool factor by 100. They've probably eaten fish/creatures of the deep that we will never see. Watching those guys go down in subs is crazy. Any implosion will cause everything else to implode on a sub at those depths. Crazy crazy stuff.

Did you notice one of the first things they say they need to do is study the DNA? Can I assume that means one will be captured and killed?
