Hi, Ive had a Tang for almost a year now,Hes about 4 inches. He was doing great until Monday. I had a Pump burn up, and he was flopping around on the bottom afterwards. A hermit got his dorsal Fin, and his right eye. After a water change, he started swimming again, but stays at the bottom of the tank. He seems to be doing better but not great. His left eye is still a little white. I cant get him to eat, and Im afraid Ill lose him. If someone else wants to give it a shot at trying to save him, they are welcome to pick him up asap! Remember, hes only going to have one eye, so im not sure how thats going to effect him. I would rather someone who has a hospital tank setup take him, or someone without bullies or shrimp. Hopefully someone can try to save him before he dies.... I dont know what else to try in order to save him, and Im afraid this weekend with a huge tank breakdown to install a sump, will stress him out way to bad and kill him. Please someone pick him up! Im in Canyon Lake, just north of SA.

I have a 75 gallon tank with NO fish in it. All I have is corals. I DO have a banded coral shrimp, and a blackspine urchin, and a hermit crab. All 3 are afraid of anything that moves. I live in South Austin. I could meet you half way in between where you and I live. The fish is not diseased, is he?

He is not diseased, he got stressed out over a pump that burned up bleeding the melted epoxy into the tank. We could meet close to san marcos or New Braunfels. Sunday if you want, Thats when Im going to do my Upgrade.

That actually sounds like a great idea. I think I am going to temporarily sump the hermit crab just in case, you know? What do you primarily feed him? I have TONS of meats, but I know yellow tangs like vegetables right?

Continue to soak his food in garlic. Today, do a HUGE HUGE HUGE water change, too. Try that. By reading your other posts, it kindof does sound like he is a gonner. But we don't have to give up hope yet. If I were you, I would do that giant water change first, then today or tommorow, soak some food in garlic, and throw it in the tank and see what happens.

Tried it.... Hes still fighting though, but wont eat. He was really fat before, now hes not so fat. But still looks healthy besides the dorsal fin, and the bad eye. The other eye is looking better today, hes swimming more and more, just still hangin near the bottom and corner of tank. I think its gonna be tough on him with just one eye. Man do I feel so bad about what happened. I know what to do next time! Im going to buy a hang-on refugium to put stressed fish in this sort of situation, where the hermits/shrimp/snails cant get ahold of him...... Do you want to meet sunday? Almost forgot.. I dont have to Babysite him at all, I just try to get him to eat as much as I can, but hes not eating. Hes staying afloat so the hermits arent messing with him now... I think he will be fine just as long as you or myself can get him to eat. Ill give you some Nori, so you can keep trying. Ive got TONS of nori lol. He used to LOVE it until all this happened...

can you put some type of divider in the tank to isolate it from the rest?
