How often to you have to add top off water to your standard stock lighting Bio Cube 14 or 29?

When I had my BioCube 29 I added water weekly; basically when I could here the water spashing I knew it was time to topoff. But then again i did away with the bioballs and parts in chamber 2 completely and had rubble.

I have a Biocube 14 and I keep my temp around 79 usually(lights on or off). I have to add water maybe once a week at the most, and we are talking maybe a quart.

That is what I was hoping. I'm thinking about getting one but want it to be pretty maintenance free.

Maintance free yes, but id push you in the direction of making a few mods. For example removing bioballs and using LR rubble, Widen the water flowover in chamber one so that you flow is improved. Do not use the filter cartrage that comes with it because they clog very quickly and slow the flow. I simply removed the carbon and material from their cartrage and replaced it with filter floss. Great little tanks; have fun. Check out nano-reef.com and you will see these are standard mods everyone makes.

i have a 70 watt halide on mine (topless) i top off about every 2 days. Im waiting for my ATO to come in the mail so I dont have to mess with it. If you have stock lighting i would say every week or so

wow, I literally have topped my BC29 off once in the last year I've had it... water changes have always come long before any evaporation
FWIW I did remove the bio balls and replace them with LR rubble, I bought a skimmer for it and upgraded the pump. I use bulk blue/white filter material for added mechanical filtration above the grate in the second chamber...

i maybe have to fill mine once every two or three months and that is when i dont do regular maintinance on it. and everything is the way it came from the store and the cheap filters that come with it(have to replace those often should try some of the methods mentionded above)

I like my 14 Biocube.....I wanna go to a 29 as soon as I can afford it.
I top off less than once a week. I try not to let it get so low that it starts spitting bubbles. If it gets any more than an inch or so below the "full" mark, then I top it off.
I built this little guy on 2-19-2007. You can check out the process HERE. (http://www.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread.php?t=256422)
Here it is.....

I rarely, if ever, top off my bc29. It has the 4.36 light upgrade kit.
And dang, I wish I caught you earlier Kyle! I've been tossing around the idea of selling my 29 BC (with light upgrade) and taking the next step, upgrading a tank with metal halides.
If for any reason you read this before buying, give me a holler. :)
