I have a a Euro-Reef ES 5-3 skimmer driven by a Dolphin DP-650 pump with a needle-wheel impeller. I came home today after working late and the pump on my skimmer seemed to be doing nothing. I disassembled everything and cleaned it and got very little response once plugged in. So I disassembled it again and it's soaking in a vinegar bath. I'll try it again later today. In case it doesn't work, what are my alternatives? Is there an alternative pump to drive this or a source where I can get another DP-650? Any tips on getting the pump up and running?
Any ideas or comments are welcome.
Thanks,
Mark

When you say "disassembled" does that include taking the impeller off the ceramic shaft and cleaning both? If not, it's likely that the impeller is stuck; it happens alot. If the impeller is free and the shaft and bushings are in place, chances are you're looking at another pump. Try premium aquatics or champion lighting.

Yes, it has been completely disassembled to include taking the impeller off the shaft.
I'm having some troubling finding those stores. Can you tell me what part of town they may be located or where I might find the phone number?
Thanks,
Mark

Anyone know of any Euro-Reef dealers within 200 miles? I don't know if my tank could last a week without skimming...

They list the following on their web site:
EUROREEF
CS6-1 SKIMMER
CS6-2+ SKIMMER
CVS8-2 SKIMMER
RS5-3 SKIMMER
I'm hoping they have some spare pumps... I think the RS 5-3 uses the same pump as the ES 5-3.

Premium is pretty fast; you'd be surprised how soon you get your order. Champion, not so fast.

Premium may be pretty fast, but not as fast as driving to Austin and getting the pump from Aquatek. Got a replacement pump for just under $100 and I'm up and running. Now if I can just get a replacement impeller for the old pump, then I'd have a back up. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out and keep checking eBay.
Thanks everyone!
