So, I thought I knew what I was doing...turns out I don't.

100 gallon
55 gallon sump
2 returns

Everything was working JUST FINE until I decided I wanted a the "durso's" for a little more quietness.

I have two 1" external drians to my sump. One on each side of the tank a few inches down from the top and over from the side. I wanted to do a durso on each and connected a "T" connection out from each bulkhead. On the top, I have about 4-5 inch piece of PVC, capped with about 1/4 hole. The lines are seperate, spa hose, to the sump. Sounds like a freight train through the living room with several toilets flushing now. Then, I put the strainer on the inside of the tank, into the bulkhead and the water level rises to the point it will eventually flood the place. I thought maybe the holes weren't big enough, so I put another and that didn't work.

My question is this:
Anyone need some extra cash. I"ll pay for someone to come help me out. I have off today(Friday) and would like to get this done.
OR-
Can anyone get in touch with Felipe or Louis and ask them to call me. 870-9406

Any help is appreciated.

bumping you up to get you more notice, because I LOVE this line... (can totally relate to that!)

I have noticed that my durso's start making a flushing sound when my micron socks are dirty and the drains into the sump become submerged within the socks. Are your drains under the water line in your sump? Also, on your caps, you should start with the smallest hole you can possibly make and slowly work your way up. If I remember correctly, I used a 1/16 bit on mine.

Hope this makes sense.

put some airline tubing down the hole in the cap. It will help any excess air escape, which should stop the sound.

As Erik said - run some tubing down the durso PAST the point where the drain comes into the T. This will release the trapped air and allow it to "burp". EASY fix. I find that the more rigid tubing you buy at HD (like for an icemaker connection) works better than airline tubing, but in a pinch, the airline tubing works fine.

YES BABY!!!! WHen I had discovered this, I freaked. My overflow does not make ANY sound. I can only hear the skimmer on my tank. Well, I can hear the water trickle down the spaflex hose down to the sump, but that's nothing. Anyway, do that.
