im starting up a new 110g rr tank and i wanna try something different.
i thought about doing the foam rocks but idk changed my mind. i have noticed here on maast on some thread builds and noticed some people using acrylic rods and making "towers" sorta and i wanna try and doing that.
question is, where in Austin can i go and buy some of those rods so i can get my project going???
is it a simple process??? and is there any kind ok glue of puddy i can also use to piece the rocks together??

When I did mine, I used plastic clothes hangers. Worked great. I also used the marine putty on the bottom rock to keep the rod from sliding out.

Would aluminum rods work for this also?

I would avoid putting any type of metal in a saltwater tank. Aluminum can/will oxidize. Even stainless steel (at least lower grades) will break down over time.

just use some old fiberglass tent poles(cut the metal ends off first!).

I don't think they have too many types. When it comes to acrylic rods, I think your options are what diameter you want and then whether you are looking for round or square. I can't remember the length they come in when I got some here in S.A., I'm thinking 4 or 6 feet?

I've read where a lot of people use PVC for that.

At Home Depot you can buy reflectors on fiberglass sticks about 3 or 4 feet long in the sign section. The sticks are about 1/4 inch dia and are strong enough for most anything inside a tank. I used some for stacking rocks and they worked great.
