we are going to be moving into our new house in prob around 7 months when it gets built. well i am looking for a new puppy to get sometime between now and then. I was looking more towards a Siberian Husky or a German Shepard puppy for me. Does anyone know anyone who has one for sale, or a litter that will be born soon??
Also my girlfriend's birthday is April 4 and i really want to get her a Yorkie puppy, so does anyone know someone who is selling one or again a litter that might be born?
Im looking for some people here on Maast, because i know everyone here actually cares about animals and i would trust them with a recommendation to a friend of theirs who had puppies or yall yourselves, instead of going to the paper... LMK Thanks!

People that REALLY care about an animal wouldn't promote breeding (unless done under the breeding code of ethics, which most people don't even know). Check your local shelters for a pup. They have wonderful companions and each one probably kills hundreds of them a week because too many people let their animals breed! You can also check breed specific rescue groups. They are always full with dogs needing new homes.

Probably not going to find any Yorkie rescue groups out there or many Yorkies at an animal shelter. Personally, I think if you really want a specific breed, asking around for recommended breeders like BA asked for is the best thing to do. Much better doing that than buying from a pet store that mostly likely got it from a puppy farm. I once got a miniature pincsher from a breeder and it was actually great to not only see where/how the puppies are raised, but also get to see the parents of the puppies to get an idea of their temperment. I've had a puppy from a breeder, from pet stores, from people selling litters from their personal dogs, and from animal shelters. Just like buying anything else, researching what you are buying and who you are buying it from is always a good idea.

If you want info on yorkies, PM me. I have two and am part of a community just like this for yorkie owners, breeders, and lovers. I'd be happy to give you tons of info for your girlfriend. It is SO important to research yorkies before you buy. I got one that was about 2.5 lbs that was so cute, and low and behold, a year later I was shelling out over 2 grand in vet bills because I didn't to my research first.

I just wanna be able to help a MAAST member with something I am knowledgeable about, because I sure know a lot more about dogs than my aquarium. :)

Oh, and ps, don't even think about buying a yorkie from a pet store. I guarantee you will overpay by maybe a thousand dollars.

Doing all the research before is an extremely good idea, I don't know how many people I've seen buy pets before reading anything and either become suprised and angry later at vet bills or the dog ends up in a shelter. With any dog you buy from a breeder, always ask to see their house, where the puppies are kept, and their parents. Also get information on the parents like how often they are bred, if they know any of the lineage (just to make sure there is no inbreeding to get the 'micro yorkies') and just overall care such as vet care, health history, etc. All this will be extremely beneficial to you and just by asking these questions you can usually tell if they truely care about their dogs or if they are just out to make money. I personally wouldn't buy online from any breeders you aren't willing to drive and visit. It is so easy to make yourself seem like a good caring breeder but you have no clue what goes on offline. Good luck! Yorkies are such good dogs. Same for German Shepards and Huskies, if I could find pictures of mine I'd post them. Both passed away but they were awesome dogs, my white German Shepard tore up a dog that tried to attack me once!

Agree.... research research research.

Go to the parent breed club and ask for a breeder in the state. Most of the good breeders are older and usualy are very nice and VERY knowledgable. They can usually tell you other breeders who maybe are not as well established who have pups on the ground or will be in the next few months. Most good breeders have a waiting list. They dont breed unless they know they have homes for their pups.

Good luck! Those yorkies sure are cute. I will stick with my big lazy saints though :D

Good info but you should always ask these question no matter where you get a dog from(Shelter, Breeder, etc). Not trying to sound rude but most breeders wont meet at their house due to an increase of theft or possible burglary. When I sold my yorkie pup I didn't meet at my house we went to a local pet store so I could show them the items needed(brush, nail clippers, food(natural balance) etc.) if they didn't already have them. My yorkies had there first litter at 5yrs(male 5.5lbs) and 4yrs(female 3.5lbs) this past december and I sold the pup at 10 wks after his first two set of shots. After constant communication with potential buyer I felt good cus someone was going to get a new family member. When I was looking for my yorkies I saw a handful of breeders and pups until I found one that seemed like a good choice, knowledgeable and cared about the breed, and i did this for both yorkies. I even did this with my rottweiler.

Not hating on shelters and to all there own opinion but if your going to pay hundreds of dollars at a shelter for rescuing, might as well do it on a dog you really want and wont regret in the future. You are still rescuing him because he is going to a good home and one less dog to hit the shelter in the future.

Good Luck finding new family member and I believe tx lil reefer had german shepard pups for sale

With all due respect. Texlilreefer asked us to close the previous thread. Yes, there were several people that pointed out that San Antonio has laws and city codes in place regulating the sale of puppies.

Any reputable breeder will know laws and ethics for their particular area and breeding in general. While I applaud your help and work you put in for your own pups I will ask you to please not advertise for a member that has asked for their thread to be closed.

On another note. A pound or a rescue facility is an excellent place to find a new companion. Many unethical people just don't care.

It can seem like things get moved around for no reason. That is why I replied to you to clear it up and ask to not do it again. Any actions the mods take are usually between the poster and them.
