I found a couple of these very flat shelless snail looking creatures (stomatella of sorts?), the one in the pic is about 3/4" and the other I saw was about an inch long. They stick real tight to the surface, I tried to pry it off but stopped so as not to injure it.
Thanks
Rob

While they are certainly similar in shape the ones I have seem much larger than the pinhead size of the ones you refer to. Mine are also much darker.

Hmmm won't rule it out, but these guys don't seem to have a shell like the limpets I was able to find on the web

That middle section almost looks like a shell of some sort.

I thought Chiton as well, as soon as I saw it, if it were a limpet then it would have an open pore nearly centered on it's shell section. I couldn't see a pore in the pic, so I didn't consider it.

There is a dark spot near the center, but can't tell if its a marking or a hole. Chitons are usually heavily segmented, but I don't see that in this one.

It's a Chiton for sure. If you sharpen the picture you can see the segments. It looks exactly like the one I removed from my rocks 6 months ago. I had no idea at the time that they were aglae grazers. Remember just like Snails; Chitons come in all defferent shapes, colors, & sizes. -David
