I was going to sell or trade these corals, but I threw one coral out yesterday because shortly after I moved it I saw flatworms all over it. So now I want to kill them all before I do anything with them. Is flatworm exit the best? what do you use? Can I be sure I killed all of them so as safe to trade without spreading? I guess I need to go take a look at Feb's slides on reef parasites? LOL
Thanks
Rob
I always forget the pics

They don't directly hurt anything (referring to the typical red planaria here) and can grow to levels though where they "smother stuff". I have had them for a while but going to treat with flatworm exit just because getting tired of looking at them!! When they die they release toxins so you have to follow directions closely.
Rob - I am interested in the Platygyra (Maze) Coral in the 2nd picture.

I use flatworm exit on all my coral before introducing them into my tank, along with lugols. I usually dip for 15-20 mins then rinse in clean saltwater.

My flatworm was eating my snails. I finally got him out with the suction hose.

That is a very different type of flatworm than the red planaria seen in the photos above. There are definitely some predatory flatworms and it pays to have a book like Anthony Calflo's Reef Invertebrates or the book by Sprung on Invertebrates.

I hadn't seen any on the corals pictured above yet, where do you see them?

flatworm exit works good, but so do mandarins, then eat them with gusto!
