I got in an order last night. I ordered only 7 reef cleaner packs, and it was buy one get one free. When they got here there was a ton of extra's from my count i only lost 17 snails and the majority of those were limpets. It was a great experiance, Great prices, and the guys there are great to deal with. If you need snails or mangroves look them up www.reefcleaners.org (http://www.reefcleaners.org).

John is a great guy and there have been many threads saying so here at MAAST. I found him about 4 months back and my 2 orders ($150 and $170) were both amazing.

I am interested in ordering from them. Which method of shipping did you use? I didn't see a "reef cleaner pack"...what does that consist of?

Thanks a lot guys, found this as I was out googling. How is that tank of yours coming along Mike? Since talking to you I have been looking for a new apartment with a skylight ;) My brother got some really cool macros recently, we have them setup in our display refugium/sump. I have been having fun with them and now have the ids...had to get a book from 1926 to get a good macro field guide for Florida waters without paying $120. I would love to post pics of them, but I still can't take a picture that isn't fuzzy. Maybe it is time to get a new camera. The book is "Seaweeds" by C.J. Hillson- not perfect but the best I have found yet.

I ordered mangroves from them last week. They shipped them on Tuesday and got em on Thursday. Very fast shipping. After reading John's response I understand about the plants. I thought they were plants when in fact they are seedls. I will see how they do and let you know.

Sorry to hear you feel that way. Can I fix the order in anyway? Did the mangroves die? Because it is winter we ship all packages leaving Florida with a heat pack, as per our shipping description. The larger heat packs are for Priority shipping, they don't get hotter, they just last longer. In fact, they don't get as hot as the smaller ones we send when using Express Mail but that is not really the point. Maybe it would be better if we checked the weather where we ship, but we leave that with the customer because it would be unmanageable for us right now. I am sorry to hear your order wasn't what you expected, if there is anything I can do to fix the problem let me know.
Even though the package must have been hot, there is a good chance the mangrove propagules lived. 110 degrees is there danger zone, so they may be okay. Let me know if the growth half of the mangrove is green at all. If it is, the propagules are still viable. They shrivel up and turn black if they die. (Like an old banana) If they are no longer viable, let us know we will work something out.
I am sorry you expected sprouted mangrove trees. Unfortunately, we don't sell mangrove trees, we only sell mangrove propagules (or seeds). In Florida, (as opposed to Hawaii), it is illegal to take sprouted mangroves because of their importance to the ecosystem. (In Hawaii they get in the way of tourism so the state allows their destruction. Florida used to be like this until we saw major declines in the fishery and nearby reefs. Hawaii will get on board too soon enough.) Did you feel that our item description was deceiving? If so, let me know I would like to clear up any ambiguity. Sometimes when I read something I have written, I interpret it at the same time.
In the future, please contact us if there are any problems. We will work quickly to resolve any issues you might have. We are fellow hobbyists too, and do not want to disappoint. Again I apologize for any trouble you had to go through. Please let me know what I can do to fix the problem, and make the website better for future visitors.
All the Best,
John Maloney

Now that's customer service. John thank you for a quick response. I have put them in a small saltwater tank to see what happens. I did not know that you were on MAAST or I would have contacted you. I figured that I would eat them and chalk it up to old age stupidity. As a Science teacher I know all to well about the ecosystem (it is one of the units I teach to 8th graders) Let's do this if you don't mind. I will see if they sprout and see what happens. I like the fact that you have such great response time. I now know I will look at some snails from you.
Thanks

No problem Tater. Once they sprout they will grow quickly. If you ever have any questions about the propagules, or if they fail to sprout let me know.
All the Best,
John Maloney

Thanks for the article John. I did just what it said to do. Can't wait for them to sprout.
