Calcium Reactor Questions

I am looking into a calcium reactor setup for my new 60g tank. I am looking at this MRC Nano reactor for tanks up to 150g:

Does it look any good?

What are the benefits of going with a dual chamber as opposed to a single chamber?

I've got the dual chamber MRC Nano but have not been able to use it much yet - everything is still just frags so not a lot of calcium use yet. Reason I got the dual over the single was reduction of CO2 before it enters the tank. Cannot wait to see it in action - one day :what_smile:

Not yet. I'll try and get some this weekend. My camera is at work. It looks like the one on the right in your link. There is not much room in the stand with all the stuff in there now. :bigsmile: There is a Maxi jet (low flow & low pressure) in the sump to feed water to the calcium reactor and the Mag 2 is for circulation within the calcium reactor.

Was it pretty easy to set up and dial in?
What equipment are you using to run it? (co2 tank, pH controller, regulator, media?)

The dual chamber raises your ph quite a bit over a single. Much preferred.

Check out the Schruan. I know a guy that had one and loved it. Small but efficient...but only single chamber.

Personally I'd go Deltec. Talk to Brian.

Still working on dialing it in. I guess it will be easier when I have more calcium use in the tank.

I use an AquaController Jr to monitor the pH in the tank. The Milwaukee is tied into an event off the AquaController so if the pH of the tank is out of whack it shuts down the reactor (safety). The Milwaukee pH controller monitors the effluent coming out of the reactor and regulates the CO2 use.
