View Full Version : chromis/ anthias school.. what'd think?>

i have a 375 gallon and in it a lionfish atleast 12 inches. now i want some cool little schooling fish, now if i got some chromis or anthias and they school, do u think the lionfish would just slowly eat one whenever it got hungry?(*wishful thinking?) or would their schooling instinct actually work against a predator? looking for people with experiences with lionfish specificlly or who have had schools of chromis/ anthias in a big tank... thanks guys!!!

19 Looks and no comments, lol. I think thats your answer. It would not work. Wishful thinking is correct. People have a hard time getting Chromis to school; I think the lion would just pick them off one by one untill they are gone. Anthias are amazing in a group, but why would you want to spend approx $25 or more per fish just to have them eaten.

so is there any fish that would do well and "school" or swim together without being a really expensive lunch, any ideas?

Not really unless you wanted a large group of damsels. We all know their reputation though.

You have a 375g- I know their are diffrent opinions but what about look downs. they are larger so the lion wouldnt eat them, but they are on the more $$$$ side.

eh i don't think i would like the, to me their kinda " really ugly" haha, i went to rainforest cafe and saw some in their tank and like they looked really weird next to all the reg beautiful fish

haha ya FSU, the lookdowns arent the prettiest fish lol, ya i was thinking about getting 7 or so small yellow tangs, like Blake used to have in his tank, they looked amazing.. or maybe butterflys
