i have a bubble coral that is doing great. i want to frag it and put some in my other tank or even possibly give some away. has anyone tried to frag a bubble coral, or do you have any information on how to do it?

This is what Ive heard:
Take a rubberband and wrap it around the coral Tightly, dividing it in half. The coral will eventually die only right where the rubberband is. Take the rubberband off and use a tile saw/dremmel to cut the bubble coral in half.

Again, this is what Ive heard, Ive never tried it, but it makes sense to me...

Good Luck!

Fragging of bubble corals is a VERY risky proposition. Just think of it this way: If it works 50% of the time, you are going to lose your coral half of the time.

BTW, mine is insane. Sometimes the size of a bowling ball!

I'd seen the article Misti noted, and thought it was waaaay too risky.

I've fragged bubble coral b4 but as mentioned above risky, be prepared to loose some. I quatered mine with a wet tile saw. all peices were doing fine until crabs/fish started to turn them upside down on the sand bed. Might want to try the rubber band method, sounds interesting.

cheers,
