I did a check on my PH today and it was reading at 7.8 maybe 7.9 wondering if anyone out there uses buffers if so what kind ?

Waht time of day did you check it? Were the lights in or off? Ph will vary depending on the situation.

Also, if you have a fitted glass top over your tank that can cause PH to drop. I made that mistake when I started.

yeh Alk part 1 Cal part 2 thay work together full cal and alk buffing system ph will go up when part 1 yoused and thay will balance everything nicely

I worry less about pH (I still test it) and just try to keep Alk and Ca where they need to be. I mix my own twopart, much cheaper than B-ionic. Have you used the reef chemistry calculator? It's super, it tells you exactly how much of the product you use to get your Alk, Ca, and Mg to your targets in your tank and its informative to step through it. http://reef.diesyst.com/flashcalc/flashcalc.html
