I am tired of this hawkfish killing everything I try and put in the tank. I've tried baited traps, nets, and spears. Too fast and hides when using nets and spears, and won't go near a trap with food. SO, for my next endeavor I will build another trap and this time I will use a goby (his favorite) as bait to entice it into the trap. If I succeed I will fling this monster as far into the field as I can. Well unless someone on here wants it.

a LONG time ago i had a damsel (BIG) that i just could not get out of my 375 and it was being a huge pest so i got a small hook and fishing line, cut the barb off and put a piece of krill on it and fished him right out... just a suggestion if ur desperate to get him out...

Thought of that too but his mouth seems too small for any hook I have. Still an option though.
Cindy: I am using a 3/8" bamboo shoot 3' long and "I" sharpened the tip :)

Go to a flyfishing shop..or Bass Pro or Cabelas. They will have tiny hooks for tying flies...fish it out. Works perfectly.

rob, i got the same one you have a few weeks ago and the little bugger jumped out of my tank. unfortunatly i didn't see him in time. why is it when i don't really want a fish any more i can't catch them for anything, but when i do want them i have problems keeping them.

Crazy how that works huh? I think this guy has eaten 2 complete hermit packages (about $200ea) several gobies of various kind, decorative crabs and even my 4in powder blue tang
As I was thinking about the fishing thing I would have to catch and remove every fish in the tank because he is always the last to come out to eat and my tangs are so voracious they will nip my hands or anything else that hits the water before it is 1" below the surface. So thats a NO GO.

I used a sabiki jig once to get a hairy blenny out. Didn't need bait and the hook is tiny. I still have a set if you're down this way, Buda that is.

I don' think the problem is Ace taking it, the problem is getting it out. I;ve been trying for a year now. But I'll keep you in mind.

Drain the tank a good way down. It always helped me catch my fish.

Kordon makes a new fish trap that is very good. This puppy really works well,we have caught fish that were very diffucult, and out smarted owners for months.
