im sure it would be too expensive to keep in stock at a LFS but the sky is the limit on what the best is rule of thumb the more expensive the better hehe

But purchase it from Aquatek, the best service in the world on these fixtures.

If your talking fixtures I really love my lumenarc reflectors. There are also lumenbright reflectors that are suppose to be primo!!! As far as bulbs go I love my helios 20ks and also like my reeflux 12Ks I used in the past. My lights are run on Icecap ballasts

I use the SPS branded bulbs, they are alright, couldn't really give you a comparison though. I do not recommend the 20k bulbs as they are not much more blue than the 10k. I have them both.

I do not like the 20ks at all. Everyone that has seen my tank is like "Those are 20ks? Hmm..." They do not look very blue at all, in comparison to ANY bulb that I have seen. I do have a Double ended setup though, and from what I have been told SE show more blue than a double ended bulb.

i've heard the same thing form someone but haven't heard it since so this is the second time i hear that. i have SE so i think it might give me more of a blueish look to it but i'll have to find out unless someone here has SE in a 20k

I'm running 14K DE Hamilton 250 watters and have been for a while. I really like the color and it's not too blue.

On DE bulbs there is definitely a brighter glow to the bulbs. I'm using SE bulbs and there is definitely a difference between 10K and 20K's. My helios bulbs are fantastic. Really nice blue color. The 10K's I used in the past were ushio's and they were a really yellow color. I am now using Helio's Bulbs that I ordered on line at a fairly good price.(~$40)

12K Reeflux 250 watt on a electronic ballast. I have had a two 175K Reeflux that lasted 18 months and even though the person I sold them to replaced both the one was still at 95% as bright as when it was brand new. The 250 watts 12K Reeflux in my office are one year old and are still about 98% of what they where brand new. I use a foot candle meter to check.
