Want a dead crab

Hi guys open for ideas i have a 2 to 3 inch hairy crab in my tank tearing rocks over eating cor alge real real problem i cant tear down the tank to get it dont have the time, any ideas on how to catch it so i can flush it, traps any ideas will help

How about a mason jar with a piece of shrimp in the bottom, lean up against the rock he is in and when he goes in, he can't come out. Of course, you could keep trying the blowgun thing video it and give us all a great laugh.

P.S. You actually used THAT excuse with your wife for the blowgun? That's almost as bad as when I told my wife I needed M-80s for removing rocks in the yard!

Have you tried the plastic bottle method? Cut the top off of a bottle and turn it around, facing back into the bottle, that way the crab can get into the bottle, but there will be a lip so he cant get back out.

Gl, let us know how it turns out! Maybe after u catch him, you can post a pic of him with the dart in him. Then you can say all other methods failed, but you got him with the blow gun! :D

We ended up with one too, Bad thing.....We tried for days to get him, no luck! Well I got tired of him eating my snails & hermits, he was not gonna win this time. I think I wore him down, after hours of trying with the long tongs. I won that one! Finally, it did take hours of trying. Good Luck

That looks like an emerald crab. I thought they were reef safe... I have 3 and didn't know they were pests. My kids have named them and they get excited when they spot them.

That looks like a poor example of an emerald crab if one at all... Why not get a mantis shrimp to kill him... then use a pistol shrimp to kill the mantis shrimp?

I probably read some nonsense then, but mantis shrimps were listed as a prey item for pistol shrimps at one particular site that I visited awhile back.
