what is the actual name of egg crate at least that is what people on here have told me what it is called. but what is the actual name and where can i find it besides LFS cause i don't feel like paying $15 for a piece that i can buy at homedepot for $5

you can usually find it in the lighting department at Home Depot being called "light diffuser"

cool thanks got epoxy for $3 in the painting section but didn't know what to call the egg crate so didn't even look for it but thanks now i have to get some

I saw them at Lowe's I beleive it comes in a 2x4 peice and it runs $11

SOMETIMES it's not in the lighting section. Home Depot, in their infinate wisdom, puts lighting acrylic in 2 different areas of the store. The small selection is in the lighting area. Over at the FAR END of the lumber area - usually on the very last aisle, they have a bunch of panels. The HD I was in this weekend at the coast, they were tucked into the very back corner!

Egg crate is what I have been calling it for 30 years, white, chrome or gold. I guess Light Diffuser sounds better. Just like if you walk up and ask an electrician for his Kleins he knows exactly what you are asking for, ask him for his side cutting pliers and he will probably look at you funny. Try looking for air filters in HD?

I just bought some of this egg crate stuff....whats the best way to cut it? Will a table saw work?

LOL, No power tools. You just use any object to break it. I use a screw driver. Simply nock of the part you do not want.

a good pair of wire cutters works well also.

I spent a whole weekend playing with this stuff...using a large pair of scissors. Worked well but the scissors were toast afterwards.

Note: Wear protective eyewear....this stuff flies every where when you cut/break it.
