mh lights are expensive. i have used and still use the following bulbs which each retail for $70++. a 250W 14k xm, a 250W 20k xm, and some 400W 10k reeflux coralvue bulbs.
to help others save some money on their light bulbs i have just ordered 2 reefoptic 400 watt 20k mh bulbs from e-bay and am curious to see their performance. the bulbs were $40 each and $5 shipping. i will be comparing my existing (top of the line bulbs) to the new bulbs which seem to be very good bulbs.
i will let you know how they compare and possibly post some before and after pictures.
Can stand up to the xms or the reeflux? is it possible to get 2 high performance lights for the price of one??
i'll post wednesday, when they arrive.

I've been using Reefoptics lights for awhile now. I'm happy with them.

ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY CENT! i just got the reefoptic mh bulbs in (earlier than expected) and they are the ones. no more reeflux, no more xm! maroon mushrooms are now maroon mushrooms with small glowing spots, brown polyps now green, the clam is just straight up glowing, the fish are more vibrant, the rose anemone is way more hot pink, the regular candycane coral is now aqua blue candycane, rocks are purpler, the whole sceen is just much better to look at.
i am not saying that xm or coralvue are no good, (they are top of the line) but in my opinion and experience, these reefoptics look the same if not BETTER than xm and coralvue and they cost half as much.
i would post pics because i took tons but it just to costs too much time.
you can get them on ebay. THEY ARE WORTH IT!

Pics would go a long way as a selling point!! I changed to helios bulbs recently and I love em'', would be hard pressed to switch, but if the price is right and the colors seem nice, who knows. Good luck with them and let us know how they perform in a few mos. after burn in.

I've not had any problems with my Reefoptics changing colors. If there is a problem, contact Weston Hull, http://www.reefopticslighting.com/ He's contacted me back immediately when I've needed something.
