Came home to find power out. Good news nothing flooded, bad news now my Mag 5 is making a terrible noise and not working. I cleaned it out and check the impeller, looks good to me. It sounds like it is hanging up... any suggestions. It is under the one year warranty but where I purchased it is no longer in business.

Try a different outlet. It's a stretch but worth a try. I hit mine with a hammer when it wont start, and then drop it in once it kicks back on. The side I hit mine on is the side closest to the inlet. Mine needs to be hit kind of hard. I am being completely serious, just so you know.

A regular one! I tap it, but it's a hard tap. Hold it against the ground and give it a good solid one!

If it is making a clacking sound, it could just have an air pocket in it?

Well, now I do have water on my floor. I put myself in time out before I go at it again.

And, Eric, I will expect to see you at my anger management classes. LOL

That's the only way to reason with machines. :)

If it is an air pocket, how do I get it out? It still is not working. GRRRR

Ok! I gave up. I have a Quiet One 1200 I just got for my skimmer, hooked it up to my return and that sucker is getting up and going. Totally keeping up with the in flow rate. It is only 296 gph, will that be enough until I can pick something up tomorrow? Or should I trow in a few air stones for good measure.

I have a Mag 3 I just put to work (and now need to replace), for the return for my 55. Erik, you ain't gonna believe it, but there's a hammer on the shelf next to it... For JUST the above purpose.
