I've got some growth on my blueberry gorgonian! I think this is big news because I've searched all over the internet for anybody who has success with these and found nothing but "Your rent them", or "They just fade away".
On one site I found that similar gorgonians had food ranging from 50 to 200 microns or so in their gut, ruling out Cyclopeeze. A guy at Texas Tropicals pulled out a book that suggested reef snow and small zoo plankton.
I bought this in November 2007 and started target feeding reef snow and BSD GP Reef and Larval Fish Diet 100-200 micron size. It died back almost completely by Jan 20, 2008.
After the Jan meeting, I bought some Roti Feast at Wolf Reef and started feeding. I also started some cyclopeeze about a week before that in desparation. There is already significant growth. The two polyps near the base developed from almost nothing a week ago.
Here's what I'm currently feeding: In about 6 oz of tank water I mix about
a tsp of Roti-Feast,
a capfull of marine snow,
a big pinch of the BSD stuff and
a pinch of Cyclopeeze.
I target feed with a turkey baster twice in the morning. Then I mix up another batch in the afternoon and repeat.
I think it's mainly the rotifers that are helping and I may be able to eliminate some of the other things. But for now, it's working and I wont change anything until I have at least a dozen polyps or so.
