Hello, Im new here to maast. I just wanted to let others know aboutt my experience with screen name 99taws6 (George Smith). I paid him $242 for a set of T-5 retro fit lights on the 9th of Jan 2008 because he told me that he would be able to send them out on the 10th. I sent him a message on the 11th, to check the status. He hadn't mailed them out yet but said he would over the weekend. I sent another message on the 14th, he said his friend was supposed to have sent them out but he didn't. 99taws6 then assured me he would be able to ship the lights on the 18th of Jan but he never did and I haven't heard from him since even though I saw his screen name logged on to this site since then. I reported the matter to paypal as a claim and also with my credit card company. It is currently still under investigation. I just want to warn other members so that he doesn't do this to someone else. He stole $242.00 from me.

Call the Municipality and/or County Law to pay him a visit concerning a complaint of computer fraud. I've done it several times, and it worked every time.

I had something like that happen with me and I filed fraud through paypal. If the seller doesn't respond or have a valid argument for not sending the item, paypal will automatically refund you the money. I love paypal for that and only use that as form of payment now! Mine was only $100 though, I'd be furious about your amount.

Well, now that I have seen this post, I need to post my experience. I sent $125 through paypal for an Aquamedic pendent to Greg sometime ago. I said I would drive from Georgetown to Killeen to pick up the light. Waited for a while to pick up the lights, no show. I tried calling for at least 1.5 hours. Finally got a text message that he forgot and would deliver to Georgetown.
Never delivered to my house and to be fair when I did contact he offered to refund my money. I really wanted the light more than the money though. He refunded the money quickly and never had to hassle about that. I suspect Greg is a good guy, just doesn't follow through. I ended up having to spend another $70 on top of the $125 to get a pendent quickly as I needed to set up the tank quickly.
Hope this gets resolved. I absolutely hate to post about a negative experience but may help someone else avoid some conflict.
However, out of the last four times I was supposed to meet someone to sell something only 2 actually showed like they had planned. Thanks to Darth Tater and Tony for showing up!!!

I have had nothing but good experiences with the people on here. It just frustartes me that their are people that take advantage of peoples trusts. I waited until the last minute to do this because I really didn't want to call him out. But it angers me deeply. He hasn't repsonded to any of my meesages since the 15th of Jan. I pray that you are right lhoy.
I didn't think of that BigKGlen, if I don't here something from him soon or see my money depoisted back in my paypal account. That will be the next step.

sorry to hear about that.. that kind of stuff should not happen here on maast. Trust is a big part of this site too bad some people have to spoil it for everyone else.

What information do I need to do this? i.e. his address, phone, etc.?

Yes, his address, phone, a copy of any correspondence, a copy of the PayPal transaction. If his PayPal info is not correct, contact them to have his account suspended.

Ok, Thanks!
He finally replied after a series of hate emails. He apologized for everything and said something came up and that he could still send the lights if I wanted, minus the shipping or give me a refund. I told him that I do not want the lights anymore and want a full refund.
He agreed, so we will see what happens next...

I spoke to George through e-mail on the 24th. He said he would refund me the money. I had already started started a claim with my credit card company and they started a new investigation with paypal.
I believe he is a Good person and in no way do I wont to ruin is rep. But I have been more than patient with him and I'm not taking any more chances. I paid him on the 9th of Jan. So I'm backing off and letting my credit card company and paypal deal with it. Until I here otherwise.

Henny, I cannot state this enough when I say thank you for being so civil. :) I completely understand your frustration. I have had one instance with an online retailer that was horrid in is communications. He caused my girlfriend's card to be charged more than what should have been charged and said nothing to me about it. It was a pain and took two weeks to get it straight. When delaing with people online it is imperative that both parties are completely transparent about every aspect of the transaction. Sorry you have had such a hard time, but thank you for handling it in such a proper manner! :)

My credit card company credited the amount back to my account and is dealing with paypal to resolve the issue. I haven't heard from George since my last post and he hasn't responded to the claim with paypal either. As far as I am concerned it is done.

LOL Stand up guy? I don't even know him and you won't catch me dealing with him. I can't even tell you in this forum what I think of ppl like that. Refund or not he didn't hold up his end of the bargain, period. JMHO

WOW, I just read that this George has been laid up with back surgery, if that is the case then he has my apologies, and Best Wishes.
