I have a space on the side of my tank that I want to store about 40 or so gallons of water. I need it to be a specific size so it will fit in that area and a wooden box be built for it to be housed in. I want it to be like a 14 x 22 x 30.. Is there somewhere to contact who can build one of these? I have seen other people have hard plastic white containers. Where do you get these?
Thanks, Jill

try Tractor Supply, they sell alot of tanks and can probably get you one with your dimensions and a drain in the bottom or however you want it.

I believe there is a place in Buda that manufactures some containers (not sure of the name), but Matt at Austin Aquafarms had his holding tanks built there. I also use just a plain rubbermaid container from walmart for my water. It's around 30gallons or so/

You'll spend more money for the one-off container than for your reef tank. I've seen pics of a rubbermaid trashcan that seems close to your dimensions.
As far as my "hard white container", which is 125g, it came from Tractor Supply. It was almost $300 out the door. And to think that mine is about the most commonly sold container out there. Check on Ebay as there is a guy out near Jonestown that was selling container dang cheap, prolly not the size you are looking for. There was another guy on Craigslist Austin selling a ton of containers near Burnett late last year, they were very odd sizes. You may search their database to see if you can find those ads.

I'm considering using something like these:
Tamco tank (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=20721&product%5Fid=424)
or
Ronco tank (http://www.tank-depot.com/product.aspx?id=279)
and then build a cabinet for it to go in.
I have 25" x 24" space between my tank and stand, and the wall. With these tanks, I think I can have enough saltwater stored for water changes and a some RO water for top-offs.

there is a coka cola bottling company in Austin or San Antonio. You can buy one of there 50 or 80 gallon drums cheap.

I don't think a 55g drum will fit in the specified measurements.

Here is another site:

They may be able to make you a customer fit, but not sure???

i've been using a "rubbermaid" type container that you get at petsmart to store pet food in for years. you can get them in all shapes and sizes and most have seals and the tops lock in place.

I bought my tank - it's a 40 gallon tank - on ebay. It's a plastic freshwater tank for RVs. They come in ALL SORTS of sizes - maybe close to what you need. Mine fits very well in my stand. I think it was about $75, delivered.

You can also check out www.aquaticeco.com (http://www.aquaticeco.com)
They sell all kinds of products for aquatic use and have a wide selection of holding tanks. You might also check the restaurant supply places for something that might fit. And if you can't find something at a store, I'd just have someone make it for you out of acrylic.
