My clown fish have been hosting in my hammer for several months. About a month ot two ago i bought a rbta. It was staying in one spot in my tank until a few days ago it turned missing. Today i noticed it right next to my hammer. Will it kill my hammer? should i move the hammer or put it in another tank? It seems like its trying to get to the clowns is this normal?

How close is the anemone to the hammer? Im not sure which would win in a stinging competition...
I would say ride it out and let it alone, you could move the hammer to another tank if that is an option. I personally have had negative experiences when trying to move an anemone, it's best to just let it find a spot where it is happy.

Id just move the hammer away from the anemone rather than take the chance of them stinging one another. you can move the anemone if you want but the hammer would be much easier and less stressful on the invert.

The hammer will win. I have seen this happen in a friends tank. I'd move the hammer asap.

I've had to move many things in my tank until my anemones found their comfort spots. I tried moving the anemones and they just move again. They will stop eventually. I've got four in my tank and mine have all settled...unfortunately I'm sure we'll stir them up when we move next month and I'll have to start all over.

Ah, reef tank chess. :)

Move the hammer because it's easy. You'd likely damage the BTA moving it and it'll just move back to where it likes anyway.

the rbta moved but now its to close to my power head. I think the power head will win this one. I moved the power head over just a little bit so it will quit sucking up the tenacles of the rbta.

do you folks think i should take the hammer out for a week or so to get the clowns to move to the rbta?

Or should i wait for the rbta to find its sweet spot.

moving the hammer out of the tank won't do any good. Once you put it back it will probably be likely that they will go back to it.
