They are liscensed from BARR Aquatics out of eastern Washington State. Supposedly he has some special internal "stuff" that is based on studies.
Spendy, but well made too.

You know it looks just like any other forced injection style dual tube skimmers of yesterday. Reminds me of ETSS brand skimmers. Bet it takes a huge high wattage pump to drive it.

I've been to brett barrs house. everyone up there in washington uses his skimmer. as stated by cafemikeracer, its your typical forced injection system. the build is high quality, but so is the price tag!

At the bottom it looks like it has the BK plate with the holes in it? I thought it was like a mix of a beckett and bk?

Yep, this is from their site.
"It will read up to 45 SCFH (Standard Cubic Feet of air per Hour) with a Sequence Reeflo Marlin or an Iwaki MD100RLT pump."

If it is a BK plate, where are the fries? Oooh better yet those yummy little processed onion things?

The plate you're referring to is called a bubble "diffuser" and simply cuts down on the turbulence inside the skimmer body. A bubbleking does use one but that is where the similarities between it and this skimmer end.

I'd definatly pick the Bubble King. It will out perform and cost cheaper to run (electricity).

Yeah read the insane amount of hyperbole that the foaminator guy wrote up in his speech about electricity. They rate that thing with huge pumps claiming that they won't cost much to run, baloney. It's apparent this question has been brought up over and over and it keeps stonewalling him.
There is even a huge slip up upon his part that made me giggle and call him out. He said that needlewheel skimmers need yet another pump to make them run adding to the total cost. Wrong. Very large skimmers might require a feed pump if they are a recirculating pump, but most hobby sized skimmers are self propelled. Now his skimmer requires an entire Dart or even larger pump to get it to run. My Euroreef will be fed supplemental to my tank via my Dart return pump. This is not an "extra" pump, it is in fact my return pump being tee'd to provide a small amount of water to the skimmer.
