I would beleive that you wouldnt get the same flow if you restricted it, and if you forgot once to clean it and it gets clogged, You would pump everything out of your sump into the tank and fry your pumps....

I know for a fact it will not restrict it or burn up the pump. My concern mainly is stripping water of things the fish need. this filter strips chlorene, sand, suit, rust and stuff like that. if i forget to clean it then im not doing a very good job at this hobby and i shouldnt be in it but trust me im soley dedicated to this hobby. I sit and surf the web for information every second im not at work or asleep. IM FALLING DEEPER AND DEEPER IN LOVE WITH SALTWATER AQUARIUMS.
