I was wondering if any of you have anything that sounds on audible alarm when the water level in the sump gets too low. I do not have an auto top off right now but plan on getting one in the future. I saw this http://cgi.ebay.com/HIGH-LOW-Water-Level-Detector-Sound-Light-Alarm-SW-01_W0QQitemZ320206682577QQihZ011QQcategoryZ3243QQc mdZViewItem on E-bay it it's just what I need but not to sure how reliable it would be. Is there another product out there that's not to expensive but reliable? Thanks

Just put in a top off unit: www.top-off.com (http://www.top-off.com)

Or just have a manual gavity top off for now, while you wait for the auto top off.

How often do you have to re-fill the reservoir for the top-off? Won't the evaporation rate be the same?

I have a five gallon bucket. It takes about a week to empty it.
The other advantages are:
Stable salinity
Stable skimming, since the level stays the same, less adjusting = less headache.
Only filling a five gallon bucket once a week, rather than trying to gauge the exact level everyday.

Automation is king.

O.k. Thanks for the responses. I think I will go ahead and get a top-off then.
