Well nobody could ever really help you without you listing the specifics of your tank. Right now you have a 120g with green water. A hundred answers would all be correct but they'd just be the standard answers.
So what filtration do you have, water source, liverock, any fish, lighting, etc..

Okay i have an 80 gallon bioweel filter filled with biobale on one side and on the other i have a bak pak 2 about 180 pounds of live rock and about 100 pounds of live sand black and white combo. 1 royal grama two clowns (one true and one false perc) 1 peppermint shrimp 1 cleaner shrimp a snow flake eel and a falco hawkfish and a blue damsilfish thats all about thirty nerite snails and 75 hermits (only about 6 are left my falco thinks they are a free snack)any thing else... oh yeah my temp stays at about 77f day and 74 at night.... oh yeah and lighting i have a 48" oddyssea PC Lighting system with 4 PC's and 4 pair of lunar lights the main lights(PC's) are on for about 12 to 13 hours a day and the lunar LEDs are on only at night when the others are not

Ok! Here is what my books have to say. Green Water/Pea Soup: If it last just a few hours, starting when the light came on, could be the release of spores by Caulerpa or Halimeda. Plankton blooms last for weeks.
It is good for invertebrates, fish larvae and filter feeders. Bad for display and can cause low night-time oxygen levels.
Ultra stabilizer will rapidly eliminate. To get to the source, use phosphate export via protein skimmer, algae filter, phosphate absorbing media. In future use a dependable RO water.
Hope this helps. Tanks go through a lot of cycles and patients is number one.

Any salt water store or mail order. I heard there is one called the Green Machine runs around $50 I have a bio-wheel on my 20 gal. deep, I slip a PhosBan pad in the chamber before the wheel every couple weeks to help reduce the green hair algae.

What I Did To Get Rid Of The Green In The Water Was Leave My Lights Off For About 3-6 Days. I Didn't Have Any Coral In The Tank So Leaving The Light Off Wasn't A Problem. Sure Enough The Green Came Out Of My Water And It Is Crystal Clear Now.

Are you using tap or RO/Di water?? Also over feeding maybe causing excess nutrients to feed the algae. List water specs if possible.

IME, leaving the lights on for 12-13 leads to major algae issues, especally when it's not having to compete with corals for food (saw no mention of this being a reef tank)...
Don't know about an "Ultra Stabilizer" but an Ultra Violet (U.V.) Sterilizer would definately help the floating algae issue, among other things.

one more question Will the lunar lights mess with the growth of algae ?? and im getting ready to cover my bedroom windows with foil to block out the last of the light from hitting my tank. thats because my curtains it turns out have small holes that i did not notice until today(By small i mean like a half inch or so but millions of them DANG FERRETS!! love 'em to death though)
