I have a 8 gal nano, and my water keeps turning green. i've done full water changes with tap water, then distilled water, and finally i went and bought pre made salt water. all the times i changed it it was clear for a day then turned green the next day.
if any one knows what i should do about it let me know.

Sounds like a Diatom bloom,

What type of substrate do you have? Is it from an old tank? My guess it that you have alot of iron or a build up of some other heavy metal. If you use tap water this is easy to do.

Also, how old are your bulbs? Replace them if they are old. Many bulbs on the market can turn to a red spectrum when they get old, sometimes even new bulbs will do this. This red spectrum will amplify your algae problem.

If you just got it for Christmas, then it's probably still cycling.

its live sand from another tank i had and there is some green hair algae in the sand, so i'm starting to think it is because of that.
