View Full Version : Frozen Food...1lb Brine shrimp $6. ORDER IS HERE!

Bill S
Sun, 30th Dec 2007, 01:17 AM
OK folks, it's time for my semi-annual frozen food purchase from Drs. Foster & Smith.

I'll probably buy $100-150 worth. Shipping is a fixed $19.99. And, since we will meet the mix/match discounts, the price is reduced further.

Here's the catch. PLEASE, only jump in here if you are buying a bunch. It really isn't worth your while to buy 1 lb of brine shrimp to save $3. I'm thinking $40 minimum unless you are a Charter Member. Then it's $25? Something like that.

I won't order until the Hikari Plankton is back in stock, which is due the 15th. MIGHT be able to make this work for the January Meeting, but not sure.

Hint: When you look at frozen foods to compare prices, be sure and click on the "more information" button. A product that's 86% moisture (Hikari brine shrimp) has almost twice as much in it as the 92% moisture (SF Brand brine shrimp).

Once we get everyone's input, I'll figure out what it will cost.

I'll add you to the list, David.

BTW, the Hikari blood worms are a much better buy, as they are 89% moisture instead of 95% moisture like the SF Brand.

Also looks like the Cyclpeeze is out until January 15th as well. It's been hard to get in the past...

Wed, 2nd Jan 2008, 12:50 PM
Oh, and just checked the Marine Snow... 99.6% water!

Bill S
Wed, 2nd Jan 2008, 12:51 PM
BTW, SOME of the requested items are NOT frozen food items. I'll see if I can put together a dry food order separately. But, please let's not jump in here ordering a bunch of dry goods.

Update: The dang plankton is now out another week (1/23). Everyone want to hold out for another week? LMK.

The SF brand has only 1/2 as much plankton (90% water instead of 79% water) and it's more expensive...

OK, folks, here's an update. The Cyclopeze is now in, but still waiting for the plankton. I'm thinking I can probably place an order on Friday or Monday.

Since our total is OVER $800, AND I don't really need that much money in my paypal account, please be prepared with cash or check when this comes in. Everyone knows I hate Group Orders, so please let's not make me regret doing this!

For shipping, I appropriated the $19.99 for frozen based on frozen order total, and then did the same for the $13.99 on the dry food.

Here are the totals. PLEASE review the spreadsheet. OTHERWISE, IT'S YOUR RISK THAT I ORDERED RIGHT AND CHARGED YOU RIGHT (I'm always right...).

P.S. If the quantity changes for whatever reason, I reserve the right to reapportion the shipping...

tony

add 1 hikari mysis to mine (for a total of two) and it will be accurate

thanks again for doing this

Sorry, Tony. Added. I'll wait for other input, then re-post the totals.

OK, bad news on the plankton. They JUST pushed it back to mid Feb. I don't think I can wait that long! Unless someone objects (BigKGlen, Ace, Mrs. BB), I'm going to change the order to twice as much SF brand plankton (it's in 4.75oz packs instead of 8 oz). As soon as I get the thumbs up from you 3, I'll place the order. Here's the current spreadsheet:

Received a confirmation that the frozen food order was shipped today, and will arrive by 3pm tomorrow. For those that also ordered dry food (marine snow, coral frenzy), it is supposed to arrive on Thursday. I have NO PROBLEM holding food until then - we have plenty of room in our freezer. At least I hope we do, it's FIVE boxes of frozen food!
