Well i got back in town yesterday around 2pm and went straight to work on making the mods to the stand. the stand originally had 4 divided sections which only allowed me to have a small 20g sump (18g high) which just isnt cutting it. So I went to work removing the divider on the far right which took me a while because it was put together with some serious wood glue and 2" nails, but after a few hours I safely removed it. I did this all with the tank setup so I had to be very careful but i come to find out it really had nothing to do with the structual integreity of the stand. The new sump is great and has been sitting over night with water, NO LEAKS. I will be actually putting it the new sump today or tommow after I make a trip to Home Depot for any parts I may need and foam to place the sump on. Now for pics...

If anyone is wondering what the small tank is on the far left, its the refuge with lots of critters....

Worked on this a few hours tonight and got everything swtiched over to the new sump. I laid down foam bought at HD and it makes everything super quiet. Very happy with its performance and its presentation.

Thanks guys! Im glad I bought the new sump. I had to remove the support that you see in the pic for a few minutes to get it in (Scared me a little) but had no problems. It holds so much more water volume than the last sump which caused my salt level to drop so im slowly raising it back up.

Could that foam be a potential fire hazard if it were used with an external pump? In the planning stages for my tank...I like the idea.

Not sure, I wouldnt think so. I bought it at home depot in the insullation section. Its your normal everyday styrofoam sheets used for packaging or whatever. Comes in a pack of 5 sheets for $12.00. I didnt want to buy the giant pink sheet that most people usually buy.

Ish, if you mount your external to a small piece of plywood and then place it on the foam you should be fine.

I just noticed the 45 degree bends. Not too shabby!

Thanks! I was going to orginally use 90's but decided to go with the 45 for less restriction; not to mention they were sold out.
