Ground UPS has damaged not one, but two 72" Outer Orbit light hoods. I've asked the vendor to try and get UPS to ship the next unit overnight air instead of ground.

I received 2 hard to find DVD classics, shipped through UPS. The box was crushed and had TIRE MARKS across it. The driver smugly told me to file a claim. The DVD's were also broken, and the vendor has no more. I've sworn myself away from (OOOPS) and now request FedEx, which much of the time is cheaper, and always faster.

The other day, I was coming home from checking the mail, and UPS was delivering across the street, the lady took this bag, and flung it 20 feet to the door, it ended up in their bushes next to the door, she simply got into the UPS truck and kept driving.....I was thinking DAYUM.....they would never handle their own stuff like that for sure!

thats excatly what happened to me. i was working on an airline by the concrete raceways at the hatchery, saw the ups guy hurl a package about 15 feet from his truck to my door.
I sent a nice little letter to the local office.

Yeah, they tend to be rough with stuff sometimes. I had a $1200 Euroreef skimmer shipped to me via UPS and the specially padded box was hit so hard it broke the main body all the way up. After a few months of fighting to get the claim processed, get my money back, and then order a new one, they broke the replacement skimmer! I was so frustrated I couldn't deal with going through the claim process again so I just fixed it myself. Always make sure you claim the correct value on what you ship and pay extra for the insurance if it's something valuable. And it's not just UPS, I've seen plenty of packages beat up by FedEx. The company I work for uses FedEx all the time to ship equipment and I've seen boxes that look like they were run over, dropped off the back of a truck, and even had holes from someone running a fork from a forklift through the box!

Don't worry I shipped out about $900 worth of gear through FedEX once, they managed to ruin it all. Best part was it was in 3 boxes. Every box was ruined.

I have had the worst luck with UPS, shipping and customer service wise. I find that FedEx is usually cheaper, faster, and more reliable. I still almost exclusively use USPS though, I think theyre the best.

FEd ex is more organized. I am going to be an airline pilot, and once, I was looking to be a cargo pilot, and I was going to go fedex. They are more organized, and less messy, EVEN THEIR TRUCKS!

Having worked for UPS, you should see some of the drivers' trucks near the end of their routes. I am surprised if anyone gets a box that is not damaged. There is just a mound of boxes in the back.

Have you ever thought that was the next day? Maybe UPS delivered at 9:00pm Monday as opposed to 10:00am Tues.

When you get your delivery can depend on where your location is at along their routes. Sounds like you are at the end of your UPS guy's route and at the beginning of your FedEx route. I track lots of shipments for work and I see shipments listed as "on truck for delivery" at 5am and they don't get delivered until 6pm. Also depends on what time it gets to the sort facility as to whether it goes out early or later in the day.
Still with all their faults, when you sit back and think about it, it is pretty amazing UPS and FedEx can get thousands/millions of packages from one side of the country/world to the other overnight. I've dealt with lots of shipping companies and those two are still the most reliable.

Mine is at the end of the route like that. Usually between 6 and 7pm before my stuff show up. Just got some cigars in a couple of days ago and they don't even bother knocking on the door or ringing the bell any longer. Just dump it and go.

They probably know your importing Cubans and they're scared as heck to get caught. Drop and run, run, run away.

LOL, my UPS guy does the same thing. Mine usually rings the doorbell and by the time I get to the door he is back in his truck halfway down the street with my package just sitting on the front porch.

That's why they look better in those brown shorts than you do.

Back when the Xbox 360 came out I ordered one overnight shipping so I could get it while I was home on R&R leave from Iraq. Next day, no Xbox. Called UPS. "Ummm, we can't find it." "What?!?" :Timeout: "Yeah, it, umm... dropped out of our tracking program when it went through the sorting facility." "Where's that?" "Tennessee." I drove to Tennessee. Guess what I found? My opened Xbox 360 in the UPS office with a bunch of guys playing Ghost Recon. :at_wits_end:

I just got my PS3 yesterday delivered by UPS. First they delivered it to the wrong place and rather than check that it was me that signed for it,they just let any person sign for it. Luckiliy I know someone that works where it was delivered and he called me to tell me it was there. I've always had problems with my local UPS so I get stuff delivered at work, but they still seem to mess things up.

How is this for great timing? The movers came to our San Antonio house to box everything up and my new (undamaged) lights arrived the same day! They were moved to Houston with the tank, stand, etc... I'll be able to start filling it up with water in the next couple of weeks.
