I'm looking for a laptop to have as a backup for checking email, basically just getting online, no games or anything. Doesn't have to be super fast, just decent enough not to remind me of 1995 dialup. LMK what you have and see if we can work something out.
TIA

Misti,

If your budget is around $400, you can usually find a new one on sale somewhere:

www.slickdeals.net (http://www.slickdeals.net) is a bulletin board that posts all great deals. You will probably need to search...

check craigslist for your city also. i got my inspiron6400 notebook off of craigslist for 350$, and its loads faster (core2 duo processor, its like having 2 processors) it was also eligible for an extended warranty plan :)

since youre in austin, the notebooks are plentiful there. the only good thing about buying new is the warranty. new notebooks come pre-loaded with tons of crap software youll never use, and they only bog down the system.

if you need help sourcing a notebook, PM me your budget, features youd like, ect ect. i know a few people who work for chains who get notebooks in every day.

I have an old toshiba laptop that I would sell you for cheap. It would work for internet, basic word processing and such.

gimme a hollar if you are still looking, I'll get it fixed up for you and am willing to trade for salt water stuff if you don't have much cash.
