Sump and refugium questions

I am looking at my setup and well I am not to happy at the moment. I have a 55 gal tank and not enough water in it. I own a wet/dry that lost it's BIO balls long ago and is now just a filter.

Here it is. I own the 75 Gallon Wet/Dry.

Now to my plan... I want to build a sump/refugium. I do not mind using the current wet/dry as a sump but have no clue how to do the refugium.

First...

How do I add more water without crashing my tank?

If I add fresh water it would lower the salinity right? If I add saltwater it would do the same. How can I add water without crashing the tank? Is slowly 50/50 the answer?


Second...

Building a refugium. I could create a second box in addition to the wet/dry but how would I avoid micro bubbles and so on?

The Wet/Dry in the past created some and I figure some pump or method of getting the water into the refugium may create more... so if I use it how would I minimize this and move the water?

I really like this setup but wonder about the noise.

I am not good at building things but am willing to give it a shot to stabilize my tank.

I am not sure about your question, however, if you add a new fuge or sump to your system, you add water that is at the same salinity as your current system.

Simply eleveate the refugium rim above the sump. Drill the refugium for a PVC drain close to the top and use a small power head to feed it from the sump.

Thank you guys. The baffles will not work for my wet/dry... it is to small. The skimmer is what causes them due to the way the water exits the system. Think I will have to build a new sump/refug to remove the bubbles and get the most water.
