well i just read the comments from the other members about my clam might not make it because of the youthness of my tank. well i got home today and it has shrunken to almost nothing. it is still alive because it reacts to the light. but is super small and im not sure what to do.

Gonna need a description of your settup. Small clams need to be fed, usualy in a bowl of tank water and some phytoplankton like DT,s.

You may want to give it to someone who may be able to nurse it back to health. As you mentioned already your aquarium just isnt ready for clams.

Anything that dies in your aquarium will cause problem if left in there. Im not sure about toxins but it will have an effect on your water chemistry. Especially ammonia levels.

It looks like it's already dead? If it's unresponsive, remove it right away. Well, remove it now anyway, either to give to someone else, or just in case it has already died. You need to be skimming adequately and have proper lighting (ie metal halides) before attempting to even house anything else in the tank. To air on the side of caution, you may want to do a 20% water change, and double check your levels after. I know it really sucks to lose animals, but be responsible, listen to the advice given above, and be very patient. :)

You should remove it now and take it to the store from whence it came and give it back to them. I don't think they will give you credit, but they may. It's a great hobby, but you HAVE to learn patience, or you will have limited success. It looks like you could use some more LR too!
