Candy Cane Coral is dieing quickly!

I have seen my chocolate chip sea star on my candy cane coral colony atleast once every day and he spends some time there though I can't tell if he is doing anything.

I think he is eating the coral heads....the soft part of the corals are missing frequently and when they start coming back they are gone the next day.

Is he the culprit?

Tank Parameters are all normal. 120gal with 48" VHO lighting x 4.

Ok, I would say it is obvious that I have answered my own question. Guess I overlooked the fact that these are not reef safe.

I'm headed to the trade forum now... LOL

YES! I would watch mine mow down what were becoming colonies of zoas.

your candy cane might still live if it don't get bothered anymore and be sure you are feeding it when you feed you fish try turning off the current in the tank so you make sure they eat the food(brine, small diced fish, even small pieces of krill) but like i said be sure to turn off current in tank so food stays by its mouth

Rule of thumb when it comes to marine starfish: If it has knobs or bumps on it, it probably isnt reef safe... Dont risk it and research before you buy...
