not to sure if true but i have heard from diffrent people that the fishes will not grow the size indicated in books will grow about half the size or 3/4 the size said in books. does anyone know if its true.

not necessarily true at all. Fish can be stunted and end up growing "taller" when they should be long, and on the other side, I've seen fish that have been overfed end up being almost double what they should be.

For tangs, I'd say no they wont get to there full size. In the wild hippo tangs are 12+ and some are more like 15, I've never seen one grow to over 10 in a tank.

I've noticed that type of notation in a few fish books/sites that fish won't grow as long in a fish tank as they will in the wild. Now I haven't seen that said for every fish, seems only certain types.
