This weekend I finally managed to remove a four-stripe damsel and yellow tail damsel from my parents tank. After this was done I was rescaping the rock when the little clownfish came up and bit me on the hand. He did this the next day also and would come after my hand every time I put it in the water.

Any idea why he suddenly became so aggresive when in the past he would swim away and hide when the damsels were in there? I guess he thinks he's the big man on campus now that the damsels are gone.

Wait till you get a pair and they both attack you! Scared the heck out of me the first time it happened to me.

It might have been the rescaping of the rock. Mine did the exact same thing...

She would never bite me then after I rescaped some rock she bites me whenever she can. I think they are trying to protect their home. It really gets bad when I try to move things around. I think she aims for the tender parts of my hand too : )

Mine like to bite the ridges of my knuckles, first time it happened, I pulled my hand out so fast I partially covered myself in water.

I had an onyx that started biting me and it was so annoying, I couldnt ever get anything done in the tank without being attacked by it. Then it started biting my 6line, then the 6line fought back, then the onyx died. Dont mess with Smoochie (my 6line)

Well lets see....you finally get situated in your 'home' and by some chance the 'hand of god' comes in and rearranges everything! Plus your hungry....

I'd bite too! Plus I'd want a mate...

I have a pink skunk that does it everytime, just wanting food. He doesn't wait for me to put the shrimp/pellets/whatever in the water, he meets my hand above the water line

Well he finally got a mate. But to do that I had to get rid of the rowdy neighbors by hunting them down and kicking them out.

My old Melanopus clow used to go to town on my hands whenever I put them in the tank. It would back up to the very back of the tank and take a swimming start to get me sometimes. It got really bad when I added an anemone, then it really became a territorial thing.

I had a pair of Percula clownfish for awhile and they were very peaceful anytime I put my hands in the tank. Then the male died and the female became very aggressive. She would bite me or chase my hand away anytime I got within 2 feet of her or the anemone she hosted in.

Try it with a Lionfish in your tank.... Everytime i put my hand in the tank now, he comes darting towards my hand, I try and be as brave as I can but I heard they hurt pretty bad lol. Most of the time i can swoosh him away but during feeding, he jumps out of the water to get whatever im feeding him lol. Scares the heck out of me sometimes....
