Hello all,

I'm from Corpus but had the good fortune of running into Ed and Jennifer at Phenomenal Aquatics a couple weeks ago. I set up a LR order this past Monday and picked up the rock with some dried fiji yesterday/today. I just put everything in the tank a few hours ago and thought I'd send out this post. I'm sure I'll be moving stuff around a lot in the next couple weeks, but this is the gist of what it's to look like. I'd love to get some feed back as this is my first SW tank. It's a 150.

Thanks again to Jennifer and Ed.

R, Jamie

Everything's still a bit cloudy...sorry about the pic quality.

Welcome

Take many pictures along the way. You will be amazed at how much different your tank will look in 3, 6, 12 months from now.

Thanks for all the welcomes.

IHoy, Right now I just have the tank, stand, canopy, 30 gal sump, pump, heater, 150lbs aragonite sugar grade sand, 100lbs LR, another 70 or so to be seeded. The sump has bioba;;s in it right now...but I'll be replacing them with LR...I need to rework the baffling of my sump though first.

I have a 300W PC set up for the lights (I used it on FW planted)...but I'm not using them. Right now...just for viewing pleasure I'm using a basic dual T12 set-up from HomeDepot. I plan on getting this in the next few months. http://cgi.ebay.com/VHO-60-1072W-Metal-Halide-Reef-light-Aquarium-Lighting_W0QQitemZ110194104847QQihZ001QQcategoryZ4 6314QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It seems like a steel for the price...and the product has been getting good reviews. Any Comments?

I'll also be looking for a skimmer down the line. Everytime I start researching I just get lost. I'm thinking something like the CSS220...but I'm just not sure.

BTW, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanks again for all the replies. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me periodically.

I tried to find a brand name and couldn't. In lighting, particularly for that much money, I would be nervous. I would rather know exactly what I am getting. Don't rush into the purchase of a light system until you know 100% what you want. A lot of money to get something only to have to replace it later.

Do some research here and at other reefing sites on lighting.

The Euroreefs are a great skimmer, just got one myself.

If it seems like a steal, it's probably a scam.

This should help you in your sump redesign. :)

Yeah..it does seem too good to be true. I'll do lots of research before I make a decision. The seller does seem to get really good reviews though. I'm not in ahuge rush. My lights aren't coming until my tax return arrives:bigsmile:

i think those are those oddysea/jebo light that people have had catch on fire many times. if you do a search on google you can read many horror stories about them. however that might be a new version and it might have gotton fixed. The fires from what i hear are one of the main reasons they changed their name from oddysea to jebo, so they could try to worm their way outta it.

not 100% sure but i'm pretty sure. So like the others said make sure to do lots and lots of research before you buy any lights!

Yep, it looks like it is indeed the Odyssea. AquaTraders sells them. http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=348

In the few hours I've been scouring the web, looks like they worked out the bugs. Used to be a magnetic ballast that had reports of overheating...now they've gone to an electronic ballast that's been doing well. Either way I'm not buying anything for a few months. Just thought I'd follow up in case anyone was wondering.
