Friday is the last time I saw this little guy. I was vacuuming and he just swam away and hid like always. Now he seems to have disappeared. I moved most of my rock around yesterday looking for him(all but my largest piece), and he is no where to be found. I also introduced my first Coral, a finger leather, earlier that day, but he didn't even seem to notice.

Should I pull all the rock out and search for him? Do they jump out(I haven't found him on the floor, but I do have dogs)? Is it OK to manipulate the rock and coral? I am new to the saltwater setup, but I am pretty sure that if this guy is dead and stuck under a rock, then I need to get him out right?

Thanks forall the help!!! Sorry for all the noob questions.

He is probably hiding. If you take your rocks out, he may be hiding in one! You can move your rocks around, just be careful! I move rocks around alot! :) How big is your tank? It will have an effect, but depending on water volume, that effect will vary!

He could have jumped out. I had one also and he went missing and I found him on the floor a couple of days later.

my tank is 30 gallons and I have about 28 lbs of liverock. With the new coral i the tank, is ok to be moving stuff around so much? or do I need to check and see where the fish is at for the sake of the coral?

I would try and find the fish, but look everywhere else first. Check all the filters, and the ground, then start moving rocks if needed. Your coral should be fine. Are you running carbon with that leather? It would be wise!

yes I am running an emperor 280, and I have a rio nano skimmer w/ a small carbon fliter on there as well. I will check the filters when I get home. I just think something has happened to it because, at least once a day I would find it sitting on the powerhead, just hangin out.

Check your water parameters, especially ammonia .If it died, you should get a ****e.If 0 ammonia and nitrites, then check under rocks or in filters.

I have had a fish or 2 gone a missin'. Big fish. I like to think that they are up in the fishy happy hunting grounds. Seriously, look around at nite w/ a flashlight, and listen for clicks. Could have an unwanted critter in there.

What do you have for snails, crabs, starfish, etc... If he died, they can consume him in no time. The're be nothing to find.

found him today after moving the biggest rock. looks like he got stuck, and the cleaning crew took over from there. It wasn't pretty, but that is the breaks.
