I had a 29 gallon for about 9 months. I have finally setup my 75 Gallon RR System. I believe I am starting out on the right foot but want to make sure.
Specs:
75 Gallon RR Tank w/ Custom Built Stand
ASM g2 Protein skimmer (On Order)
115lbs of Fuji Live Rock
20 Gallon Refugium w/ some alge, and aroginite as the base
Mag 5 return pump
MJ 1200 water pumps X 2
Pics are below
Please let me know what you think I should improve on thx

Everything looks great. Excellent choce in skimmers; the ASM G2 will be more than enough for a 75g.

Mag 5 seems low for a return. Although they advertise 500 GPH with a 5' lift and turns you are probably at 300 GPH at best. If the MJ1200 pumps are not of the grounding type I would add a grounding probe and make sure they are on a GFCI circuit or replace them with pumps that have a grounding prong and keep them on a GFCI protected circuit.

I have a 75 with a 29 for my fuge with a mag5 pushing it as well. It's nice slow flow for a fuge! Maybe yank out those MJ's and replace with a Hydor Koralia #4? I have three in my 75, but I have them on at different times. During the day I have two on, and at night just one. I am getting a Euro Reef skimmer which is almost identical to what you are getting. Is yours an external? If not, you may be in the same predicament I am in. I am going to drain my 29 and put in some removeable baffles for the skimmer portion. IDK how big that thing will be in there, so it's going to be trial and error for a little bit! What's the foot print of that skimmer? Mine is 10x11.5!
Are you excited? You should be!!! :D
BTW, I like how you did your fuge. I may look into that!

Do you have a Tee off of your return with half going to the fuge? If so I'd remove that and let all of your return go back to the tank. Just couldn't tell for sure from the picture though. Nice looking setup though.

Yes it is a Tee off from the mag 5 pump. My footprint of my asm g2 is 10 by 11.5 inches
That sump/refug setup cost me $19.67. AHAHAHAH Yipee!!!!!!!!! SHow me the money!!!!!!
Would you say get a higher return pump. What magage?

Do you have all of your water coming from the tank going into the fuge? One thing you can do is tee off of the water line leading into the fuge and have part of that water go straight to the sump where your return is to slow the flow in the fuge.
I was just curious what the purpose of the tee off of your return to the tank partially going to the fuge was since it appears the tank drains into the fuge also. Are you trying to keep your water volume coming from the tank down?

People from aquatek said "The longer the water is in the refug the better, so why not tee off from the return pump"
So I listened and The experts shall recieve.
I think I will put my mag 3 pump running from the sump into the back of the tank. and just make another drain from the refug to the sump to compensate for the drain from the tank.
