I have a noisy overflow, anyone know whats the best thing to quiet it some. I added a ball valve to the retrurn line w/Mag 12 and inserted pipes with drilled holes into the main body of the overflow. This made it not as loud but its still has a annoying gurgle. I picked it up from Ace and plumbed it Sunday and actually ran everything wet for the first time yesterday. It was much much louder with gushing air into my sump before the ball valve and pipes with holes but is still annoying. Any ideas

Can you setup a durso style pipe where the water goes down the back of the overflow? This might quiet it down a little bit more.

Thought about that but with the design there is no room. I had Ace build it thin to keep the tank close to the wall. With dual pipes it would not fit. Hmmm. I will have to tinker some more. I have a idea that may help some.

I just put a piece of plastic airline tubing into mine. If it's gurgling, you may want to mess around with the spa flex. Mine comes straight down, then bends and goes straight forward. Stopped the noise completely.

yea, im thinking of trying that. Capping off the tops of the pipes and drilling a hole for airline tubing so the air can escape. Should work.

There was an alternative durso design (they called it another name also) that might work also that didn't require the standard J style. It might take a little work and I don't remember where I saw it or what it was actually called.
Maybe someone here has seen and remembers what I'm talking about. I'll see if I can find it.

Found it. It's called a stockman pipe and here's the link to RC with it.

thanks, I will check it out. I kind of took care of it with the use of electric tape and airline hose, lol. Basically I taped off the unessacary holes and the top of the pipe. cut a small hole in the top and entered the airline hose. Now for the most part all I here is running water.

I just came across that stockman pipe last night. Looks like it would work great!!

The tubing trick works great - it allows excess air an escape back up the drain.
