I just picked up a 20 gallon from CB pets. I plan on heading over to Wolf Reef to buy some live rock soon.
It has a canister filter and double bulb T5 lighting. What corals can I add?
I was hoping for some stocking ideas.
Please post what you think would do well! Thanks!

I was thinking something like this:

Firefish
Clownfish
Six Line Wrasse
Cleaner shrimp

Do you have any ideas? Thanks!

But they are a nice pair of clowns even if they are steep

Some sixlines will be mean suckers and some won't. In a 20 it might be a problem for the firefish. I would drop the wrasse and get a cool goby. Yellow watchmans are real nice. With the clownfish, be sure and stick with ocellaris or percs. Tomatos, maroons, etc. will get too big and aggressive to keep in a 20 with peaceful fish.

How about:
Pair of Clownfish
Firefish
Yellow watchmen Goby
Pistol Shrimp
hermits
snails
emerald crab

Too crowded?

On the corals.... at least wait 6 months or lil longer before you attempt any.... how dep is the tank? if its not deep you should be able to keep a lot of different kinds of coral with t5's depending on watts and bulb types.

Its a normal 20 gallon high. Twin bulbs, one anctic one daylight, probably 48 watts.

Make sure you are keeping up with your water changes. 4 fish is a good size load in a 20, so that would be my main concern. Also, make sure your corals are either glued down or nice and settled in before adding an emerald crab. Those guys can be fairly aggressive when looking for food, and will turn corals over to find it underneath them and have been known to take it right out of their mouths. Yellow Watchman Gobies are really cool fish with interesting personalities, a really good choice. In a tank that size, make sure to introduce your clowns at the same time because Ocellaris have a reputation (deserved) of being a little aggressive to new clown tankmates. Good luck!

BTW, six months is a little extreme on waiting to put in any corals. I'd say adding some Mushrooms, zoanthids and other softies would be just fine in as little as 3 weeks from end of cycle.

How about this:
2X Occallaris Clowns
1X Yellow Watchmen Goby
1X Scooter Blenny
Would the Scooter be okay in a tank this small? What if it would eat frozen?

The only think I would think about doing is adding the 2 clowns at one time, then after at least 2 weeks, put in the goby and blenny at the same time. That way they can figure out their new territories at the same time, where if you did them seperately, one would be established while the other tried to make his place and could potentially get beat up. Since the goby and blenny will both stay on the substrate for the most part, they'd be fighting over the same territory...

i believe a scooter blennie eats pods, so a 20 might be too small.

Yeah that's the problem with the scooter blenny. I wonder if it would be okay if it ate frozen?
Thanks for all the comments.

How loud is a pistol shrimp? I was thinking a goby/pistol shrimp combo but don't want to constantly hear the shrimp.

Thanks again.

Yeah, if the Blenny's eating frozen, it's pretty much a non issue with the pods. The pistol shrimp is loud enough to hear if the TV isn't on, and you are listening for it, or trying to go to sleep with it next to your bed, but other than that it's no big deal...

B&B has clowns for 9.99 and they are good sized!

I echo MissT's advice and the rainford's ROCKS! They look like a knock off six line. From what I have read about them, they don't ship well :(

In my BC29 the main display is approx 20g and I have 1 pair of True percs and a yellow clown goby. Theyve all been together for approx 3 months now and are doing great. Thinking of adding a cardinal or firefish to the group as well.

My BC29 is about the same volume as RayAllen's and I have kept a coral beauty angel, true perc, flasher wrasse, purple firefish and a scooter blenny happy and alive for 7 months. Another friend has 2 percs, a firefish, a scooter blenny and a rainfords goby in an aquapod 24. If you decide on the scooter blenny just make sure you see it eating frozen before you impulse buy it- I have not been in a good LFS that won't feed for you if you are interested in a fish. Also, there are 2 color variations on the scooters- mine is dark(almost black) where as my friends is red. Help this helps a little.

a small school of green chromises would look nice or a small school of cardinals both of these species give off little waste so they wouldnt do mutch damage on your biological filtration
