We are getting into the season to start looking at people who are willing to take the reins and help lead MAAST into the future. We are looking for any charter member (or web member that would like to become charter) who is willing to take up a Board of Directors position within the club.

We are in real need of people who have the time available to help out the club, and if you bring any special talents that would be helpful to the club/website. We are currently pursuing MACNA for 2009 and the club is really growing in the right direction.

Last year we asked for anyone who was interested in becoming a BOD to write a small bio explaining why you’d like to be a board member and what you can bring to the table. I’d like to see basically the same thing this year, and again we will bring all the individuals to a vote from all charter members. We will work as hard as possible to let members know the date for voting so we can get as much participation as possible. That being said please post if you would like to be considered for a position and a small bio on yourself and what you could bring to the club. We would really like to see maximum participation on this from our club members. Now is your chance to make a difference and make things happen.

We have 6 positions available

I will be placing my name in the hat again for BOD as my term is up.

I have served on the BOD Since 2006 and am the current President. I want nothing more than to see MAAST keep growing and would like to stay on as the BOD and focus on our goals of education.
Thanks,
Brian Jackson

I will be serving my second term as elected to the BOD next year. I would like to continue serving as Vice President next year as well. My main goals for MAAST in the coming years include bringing MACNA to San Antonio, reaching out to education and students wherever possible, and increasing community service project participation.

I will also be running again for a position on the BOD as Secretary of MAAST. Ive been on the Board since 2006 and have loved every minute of it. My goals are to facilitate MAAST's growth, increase member participation (such as TOTM), and to bring MACNA to The Riverwalk in 2009.

Man alive, it's going to be a tough decision. You guys wear so many hats in this organization already (see aforementioned post by Ray) that a decision would be rough! Best of luck to all candidates!

I was appointed to the BOD this year to fill a Vacancy and plan to continue in this roll next year as well. my current knowledge level in reef-keeping, as well as my dedication to this hobby are one reason I would like to continue in the position.

I have spent many hours gathering information and putting together Bid information for our upcoming MACNA bid and with my management skills and willingness to work hard as well as lead, I feel I am very qualified to continue in this position.

I am also committed to education within the MAAST community.. I am currently working on several behind the scenes events that will be upcoming.. stay tuned.

I have been a member of this site since its infancy, and have the long term dedication needed to help this club succeed.

on a final note.. your current BOD is a very committed team that works well together and we would like to continue to move this club forward with the help of a few new, dedicated BOD members

I will be serving my second year as a BOD member. I am proud of what Maast has become with the help of the present BOD. I took over the Chairperson position for the Sponsorship Committee last year and although it needs some more work, we have provided some pretty nifty raffle items and will have some even more exciting things in the future. I am PROUD to be a part of the future here at Maast and would like to continue to do so.

I have been nominated to run for President. I accept the nomination and would PROUDLY serve in that position. I will work with all my ability to help steer Macna to our fine city for 2009. We ( the current board) are working our hardest to make that happen. It would be a tremendous event for the Riverwalk and San Antonio's economy.

I hope that you have been satisfied with what I have tried to accomplish here with the help of my friends and family, the current BOD. We strive to make Maast the best out there. We hope you think so, too.

Please feel free to add any comment, criticisms or suggestions...

Thank,
Steve Byrd

Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth...I joined MAAST in it's 2nd-3rd month of existence (Jan 2003). I have been involved in many different roles within the BOD since its' beginning - BOD, Secretary, and as Treasurer for the last 2 yrs. I do take a great deal of pride of arranging and taking care of this important role as a BOD. It is vital to MAAST's existence and success. With MAAST planning a MACNA bid for 2009, it will be of utmost importance for accountability & handling.

For me personally, this has been one of the best run BOD's this past year. Currently, we have a great group that have worked very well together to make MAAST the great site it is. It is important to realize that becoming a BOD takes dedication and work. MAAST is growing by leaps & bounds. So we need those members that are willing to donate time & energy to continue this great journey...especially if we are looking at MACNA 2009. It's all teamwork.

Thanks to all of you! Your success is evident by the number of current BODs willing to "re-enlist"!

Brian - you are crazy man! But not nearly as crazy as Sherri ;)

Thanks to you all!!

Conflict of interest keeps me from running for BOD, but if y'all need help with commitees or anything else, I'd be willing to help out. Thank y'all for everything you guys do for the club and the hobby overall. You're an awesome group of people!

I would love to be considered for a BOD position. I can help out with any design related jobs for the website or any other projects that might come up. I also want to do anything I can to help bring MACNA to San Antonio.

MAAST has helped me so much and I would just like to give some help back.

I would like to place my hat in the ring. Being in between SA and Austin can be helful to many people needing my assistance, not to mention making meeting in either location.

I would like to nominate TheEdPrado for any open board position. He's very knowledgeable and personable. Besides that, he makes great BBQ.

The BOD postion responsibilites are you must attend the BOD Meetings usually try for 4 a year and usually in San Antonio but they are worked around the BOD's schedule. Also you must attend all maast monthly meetings to help run raffles and help with sign in and sign ups of new members. Other than that just help out with your ideas and your free time.

Well it would be great if he wasn't an LFS owner

the bod in place has some very dedicated individuals that i highly respect, i couldn't help any longer because of some complications and i had to get out of the hobby for a while. if you are going to run write up a short paragraph telling everyone why they should vote you in.

I have been in the "Hobby" for over 13yrs and have learned a lot from people in the hobby. Joining MAAST has been one of the most rewarding experiences since starting my reef. The amount of help and learning experience have proven invaluable. I would like to join the BOD to help other MAAST members and hopefully spread the word of our main goals of responsible reefkeeping.

I have been in this hobby for a tad over a year. I have read and read and read and read all over the internet and in some books all of the knowledge that I have amassed in such a short time. I feel that I would be an asset to the organization, and I do have time for duties related with the board. Hopefully I have helped some of you to make the leap a little less difficult by sharing my experiences and what has worked for me. :) This is a great group, and I would love to help push our bid for MACNA!
