What would a good way to jump start coralline growth in a FOWLR tank? I started with some nice purple and green Tonga branch. Can still see those colors on the rock but would like to get them all covered in the bright purple coralline. thanks

time... good water parameters. i will say that i have used purple up with limited effects that is based upon my experieces after using B-ionic, within the first few weeks it had taken over my tank. so what i would reccomend is to get some scrapings from someone to seed your tank like erick said, then i would keep your calcium and alk at a good level using actual supplements instead of purple up (aragonite dust + water)

with purple up, itll make your calcium go up but your alk will go down. like another person said, b-ionic, ive had good results with.

use more actinic lighting and keep your calcium and alkalinity up. b-ionic is one of the simplist ways and not that expensive.

Bingo! Thats it. Don't waste your money on purple up. Seed your tank with coraline from other tanks and maintaine your calcium and alk levels. With that being said, B-ionic works great for an off the shelf dosing solution.

I agree, when I first started my last tank, I was asking the same question and was told to just let time run its course...within 3 - 4 months, I had more coraline on my rocks than I knew what to do with....Once it started spreading, it did so rather quickly....

My tank likes to grow purple sponges that look like macaroni, but has hardly grown any coraline. I haven't really seeded my tank though. I have some other rocks that are completely engulfed in sponges!
