View Full Version : One Giant Leap for Young Seahorses

I decided to get brave and move four of my larger juveniles into my 59G. I was worried the stronger current would knock them around and I would have trouble finding them in the larger tank. This was not the case. The juveniles are loving playing in the stronger current and happily hitching in plain sight. Both of the adult males immediately swam over to investigate the youngsters. You would have thought they had never seen a young seahorse. One of the young females took one look at the big male and immediately hitched herself to his tail. Maybe I will get braver tomorrow and move more into the larger tank.

You'll probably see faster growth too. My juvi comes in a 46 have grown around 25% more than the juvi's in a 20.

Yeah! That was what I was thinking. The first four were doing so well, I just moved 8 more over. They were in a 30G. They are already eating Mysid Shrimp and hunting for pods in the rocks. I have a turn-over rate of about 500 gallons/hour on this tank (over kill), not including the fuge, so the water is pristine.

I will try to get some this week. This morning, one of the young males was displaying his colors and pouch, trying to compete with my very large silver male. Too funny!

you can attach them directly when you hit the post reply button, or you could start a photobucket accout (its free - and there are other sites as well), upload your photos there and then paste the img tag (under the picture) into the text of your reply.

with the photobucket option, you can add more pics to one reply (much to the chagrin of chrissy - sorry, inside joke).

It works. Thanks for the info. The first pic is of a couple of my adults. The second pic was when they were about 2months old and the third pic was when they were about a couple of weeks later playing in the feather dusters I'll get organized and take some new pics. They are alot bigger now.

It won't let me paste. Have to work on that.

you can just copy/paste the image tag (the bottom one under the thumbnail pic) if you want to see the pic in the thread instead of a link

Wow! Those are some nice horses!

To do the img tag thing just do...
*img*http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff266/leliataylor/seahorses/DM1Scarlet.jpg */img*

but use brackets instead of *

then it will show the pic instead of the url like....

Thanks for all the info on posting the pics. I've never tried it before.

It is so nice to watch the juveniles exploring their new home. It reminds me why I spend every spare minute working with seahorses.
