I have drilled many new tanks AGA. I have found the back glass is usually drillable and the bottom is not.

3 holes on the back should be fine, it's when you get to adding holes to the bottom pane that you could add too much stress and crack it, since most of the weight has to be distributed across the bottom. Do you have a diagram of what you are trying to accomplish with your plumbing?

well i dont have a diagram but the thing i want to do is one center hole about 1 in and two other holes as returns that are 3/4 i will see if i can get a diagram of what i am going.
